Capital of Coiffure show is a hit in the City of Culture

Apprentice Emma Blain with ModelEmma Blain, Georgia Joseph, Heather Lee Zeisz and Sarina Lo Guidice proudly represented Training Plus merseyside recently in the talent showcase of the year.
In possibly the most stylish way to celebrate Capital of Culture, Merseyside's hairdressing apprentices created styles themed around the region's culture. They were shown on the catwalk at a Capital of Coiffure event in the Metquarter, Liverpool on the evening of the 29th October. Heather Lee Zeisz Retro Model

Hosted by Natasha Hamilton on behalf of the Merseyside Hairdressing Forum, this ticket-only event drew a crowd of almost 2000 and featured the work of 35 apprentice hairdressers, selected from more than 1,200 apprentices across the region in a series of competitions. The event was the culmination of months of work by the Apprentices who have studied Liverpool history and culture in preparation for their creative works; many of whom who have also participated in the Badged Apprenticeship Programme.

Natasha Hamilton Natasha Hamilton presented the extravaganza and show stopping entertainment which was provided by MD Productions who featured on Britain’s got Talent. A prize raffle raised valuable funds for Radio City’s Cash for Kids charity appeal. Cetra Studios produced a fantastic photographic exhibition for the event and additional copies of all photographs including the event are available from www.cetra.co.uk

Brian Quinn, Director at Training Plus Merseyside and Chair of the Merseyside Hairdressing Forum made the following statement:
"We are very proud of Emma, Georgia, Heather and Sarina as in fact we are of all the winners who participated in this prestigious event.  Our learners have contributed to and experienced something that is once in a lifetime and something, which makes Liverpool a world-class cultural city. This event has showcased their talent and dedication as well as giving these young people a voice on the 08 stage. Congratulations to all the Apprentices, training providers and Colleges who participated; the evening was a great success. "
