Learner achievements reach new high - 2008-9 success rates

Training Plus merseyside's quality improvement plans have pushed success rates for learners to new heights during the 2008-9 contract year. As the company reviews performance and effectiveness during it's annual self assessment process, it announces a 10% increase to 78% in overall success rates compared to the previous year .

The Company's overall success rate is a cumulative reflection of specific and outstanding achievements in each of its learning programmes. The Childcare programme achieved an 83% overall success rate, (72% of which were timely); Business Administration 75% and Hairdressing 73%. Advanced apprentices in Hairdressing achieved an outstanding 100% as did Train to Gain students in Business Administration. There are also very high achievement rates amongst the diverse student groups, for example learners receiving additional learning or social support achieved an 81% success rate; 3% higher than the Company overall.
These results are synonymous with the views of learners and employers assessed in our bi-annual surveys. They also align very well with employer and learner responses in the independent Government Framework for Excellence measures, in which learners during 2007-8 rated tpm OUTSTANDING.

Jean Haram, Director responsible for contracts and performance, commented: '...we are delighted with the outcomes for our learners in last year's contract. It represents the culmination of our targeted business planning, quality improvements and the efforts of our staff to effectively support all groups learners in their learning and life goals'.
