Training Plus profiled in national quality publication

The Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) recently published a feature on how Training Plus successfully uses teamwork to support the embedding of Skills for Life (SfL). The two page article appears in Issue 3 of the QIA’s Skills for Life Improvement Programme Update and examines how Training Plus has progressed in this field.

In the feature, Paula Hayes, Director of Quality at Training Plus outlines how the Skills for Life Improvement Programme (SfLIP) encourages vocational and SfL staff in the organisation to work closer together through involvement in a quality improvement cluster group, and a coaching and mentoring good practice cluster.

Paula identifies key factors for success in embedding SfL:

  • Assign the implementation of improvements to a small working group of key staff rather than just one person
  • Ensure the group members are available for every meeting
  • Include a senior member of staff who is committed to SfL and to implementing the changes required
  • Keep everyone focussed on the fact that the learner will ultimately benefit from these changes. This is particularly helpful as a focus point when things get difficult and there are hurdles to tackle.
