As salon manager for HOOKA, I have liaised with recruitment consultants at Training Plus merseyside (tpm) since 2008 - they are very efficient in helping us recruit apprentices. Dion Padden, our salon owner, completed his level 3 qualification with tpm when he first moved to Liverpool. Three other members of staff have also since completed the same qualification with tpm.
We currently have three apprenticeships and two advanced apprentices with tpm. Each apprentice works as an assistant to two qualified stylists in the salon - this gives them plenty of commercial training opportunities.
As salon owner, Dion always insists on excellent skills-based training for the young hairdressers. He has chosen tpm because of their flexible approach to our needs as an employer. They offer us a choice of college days, effective attendance modes and regular 100% salon-based assessment. tpm’s scheme of work slots perfectly into our own training standards and internal methods, whilst we are able to provide every opportunity for tpm to observe and assess practical training in the salon.
In addition, we value tpm’s regular communication on the progression of our staff training. The support they give our learners is excellent whilst the advice and guidance they have provided has been invaluable. In a nutshell, tpm provide us with effective communication, an efficient service, flexibility and fantastic support.
