As the Managing Director of Voodou Hairdressing, I have worked and planned staff training with Training Plus merseyside for eight years now. Work-based apprenticeships have long been the standard in the hairdressing sector, giving us greater flexibility and control over staff training and professional standards.
Voodou has qualified 52 hairdressers at level 2 with Training Plus merseyside over the last 8 years, 19 of whom have progressed to level 3 advanced qualifications. What I value most about the service at Training Plus merseyside is that they put the learner at the centre of everything. Similarly as a management team we value the regular communication and liaison over the progression of our staff training. As part of this, the hairdressing manager and assessor from Training Plus merseyside attend our management meeting each month.
Training Plus merseyside has offered us good flexible training attendance options which support the commerciality of our business operation. Their staff ensure that our stylist/mentors are always involved in assessment planning and progression reviews with our apprentices. This is really important because each apprentice has a qualified stylist in the work place to support their developing knowledge and help them put this into workplace practice.
