My role at TPM is to approve and review quality systems and procedures. I’m also responsible for linking in with awarding bodies on the delivery of our vocational qualifications. I head our internal quality team, and champion Key Skills/Skills for Life.
My professional background is in hairdressing; I trained as a hairdresser and beauty therapist in Liverpool, achieving standard and advanced level qualifications. I went on to work in several salons, specialising in colour work. I also gained my assessor qualifications (D32/33). Whilst still in hairdressing, I returned to study and obtained a Certificate of Education from Liverpool University. I have continued my professional development, gaining certificates in Key Skills, business administration and equality & diversity, and becoming a ‘work-based learning embedding champion’ for literacy and numeracy.
In 1996 I led the set up of the predecessor to TPM. It was a small company and I taught eight learners above a hairdressing salon in Liverpool. Within a year we had outgrown our premises and relocated to TPM’s current Lime Street premises. In 2001, TPM’s two other directors, Brian and Jean, and I acquired the previous company and incorporated TPM: the rest is history!
We’re proud of TPM’s high standards of quality in the delivery of services. This is recognised by awarding bodies and other external agencies. Our staff are highly qualified and motivated, embracing learning and change in order to keep us at the forefront of the learning and skills sector.
My drive has not changed over the years; I started out wanting to see young people achieve their dreams. I have been passionate in my career and it is a joy to be able to pass that passion on to clients and staff, all of whom who inspire me daily.
