Previous qualifications

You can usually enrol at TPM without any previous qualifications but GCSEs or NVQs can give you credits towards your chosen course.

The right attitude

To be accepted on a TPM training programme you must be willing to learn, committed to completing your course, have excellent attendance and be punctual

Other conditions for training with TPM

  • Age – government funding is usually subject to age restrictions. See Eligibility and Funding or contact us to find out more.
  • Employment status – for some of our courses you must be employed in a relevant industry. We can help you find a relevant job if you’re unemployed.

6 steps to getting on a TPM course

  1. Contact us
We arrange an interview with one of our recruitment consultants. Pre-recruitment advice and information is available if you have a disability. Please see our disability statement for details.
  2. Interview
A visit to TPM when you complete an application form providing information on your education and career aspirations. You can tell us about any additional needs so we can offer the right support. We can offer help to complete forms if required - please let us know when you contact us.
  3. Initial assessment
A range of simple computer-based tasks. This gives us an idea of your literacy and numeracy skills, your learning level and your preferred learning style so we can arrange the right support for you.
  4. Group induction
A half day workshop with other learners where you find out all about your course, employer interviews, what is expected of you and the support available.
  5. Employer interviews
You will be offered interviews with employers in your chosen occupation. Your recruitment consultant will help you to prepare for these.
  6. Start work and training
You will usually start your employment before your training begins. Once employed, you will be formally signed onto your training programme.

If you are already employed, the admissions process will be slightly different. Contact us to find out more.
